Regional training centres

TDR supports a network of Regional Training Centres (RTCs), selected competitively to lead activities for strengthening capacity in implementation research, to enable research relevant to the TDR Strategy 2024-2029 within their respective regions. The RTCs support the development of implementation research capacity, targeting the end-to-end scope of the IR process and learners, which include health professionals, practitioners, decision-makers,  communities and researchers.

The RTCs work with national and regional stakeholders and networks to draw from their expertise and to identify capacity strengthening needs and research objectives. Regionalization of courses and IR activities using train-the-trainers methodology enables TDR and the RTCs to work closely with satellite institutions and end-users in each region and to involve experts in disease-endemic areas, while staying relevant to the identified needs.
