A manual for rapid epidemiological mapping of onchocerciasis

Overview

In this manual, a method of Rapid Epidemiological Mapping of Onchocerciasis (REMO) is described which is based on the selection of a very small sample of villages to be surveyed and which allows the extrapolation of the results to a large number of other villages. The mapping exercise requires a general understanding of the ecology and behaviour of the vector, the epidemiology of onchocerciasis and knowledge of the geography of the area.
