A message from TDR Director John Reeder
I was deeply saddened by news of the death of Dr Alwyn Mwinga, a distinguished leader in the field of global health.
Dr Mwinga was the Chief Executive Officer of the Zambia AIDS Related Tuberculosis Project (Zambart), a research organization that focuses on diseases of public health importance with a special focus on TB and HIV. She had more than 30 years of experience working in TB as a hospital physician, researcher and public health professional. Her expertise was widely recognized.
Dr Mwinga served on several TDR committees including the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee, scientific working group on research capacity strengthening and the TB/HIV business line special review team. Her wise advice was highly valued by TDR staff and she will be sadly missed by all at TDR.
Dr Mwinga will be remembered for her remarkable contributions to global health, her passionate advocacy for patients, and her unwavering commitment to improving the lives of those affected by TB and HIV. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and excellence.
Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends, and colleagues.
