Biography

Christine Halleux joined TDR in 2009 and currently serves as the Unit Head for Research for Implementation. A medical doctor with a PhD in biomedical science and a diploma in tropical medicine, she brings more than two decades of experience in global health, with a strong focus on clinical trials and implementation research.

Throughout her career, Christine has worked and lived extensively in multiple countries across Africa and Latin America, contributing to major research and public health initiatives targeting malaria, tuberculosis and neglected tropical diseases. Her work has consistently centred on improving health outcomes in underserved and vulnerable populations, reflecting her deep commitment to reducing the burden of infectious diseases in the world’s most disadvantaged communities.

In her current role at TDR, Christine leads the Research for Implementation Unit and also directly oversees the programme portfolio on visceral leishmaniasis, guiding global efforts to strengthen evidence, accelerate innovation and support effective implementation strategies.
